Background
Celtic Football Club is a Scottish football club based in Glasgow, which plays in the Scottish Premier League. The club was established in 1888 and  is celebrating its 125th Anniversary  during the 2012/2013 season.

Celtic's stadium, Celtic Park, is an all-seater stadium and is the largest football stadium in Scotland and one of the largest in Europe.

Challenge
Following Celtic’s recent qualification to the group stage of the 2012 UEFA Champions League, for the first time in four years, the Scottish Premier League Club recognised that with such a prolific season ahead there is sure to be increased media attention surrounding the club.

To ensure that the club could fully support the world’s media and maximise the exposure of the UEFA Champions League Bid, Celtic realised that they required high speed and resilient wireless connectivity throughout its stadium.

Solution
Boston Networks worked in partnership with Celtic Football Club to design and deploy two high speed and secure wireless networks, within its multi million pound stadium.

To fully accommodate all members of the press and media, Boston Networks deployed both wireless networks and performed rigorous testing, within Scotland’s largest football stadium, ahead of  Celtic’s first UEFA Champions League match with Portuguese giants ‘Benfica’.

The primary network has been designed to provide connectivity within the main press area and also within both ‘snappers areas’ situated behind each set of goals, within the 60,000 capacity stadium.

To further support the press, a secondary network was deployed within the Stadium’s ‘mixed zone’. This network will be utilised by all the major sports broadcasters to record and transmit all the exciting post match interviews and instantly transmit live footage to sports channels around the world.

Key features

  • Rapid deployment
