Delivering Excellence
Fully committed to delivering excellence, as part of the Glasgow 2014 community, Boston Networks will deploy the future-proofed structured and fibre optic cabling solution, to support voice, data and video communications.

To guarantee unsurpassed performance and minimise support implications, for one of the largest sporting multi-sport events in the world, Boston Networks will be designing a truly resilient solution.

For the duration of the Games, the critical infrastructure will be utilised by Games officials, athletes, members of the press, broadcast and media alike - as well as a range of other operational personnel - to deliver a wealth of service enhancing information, including:

  • Enabling athletes and team officials to communicate with their friends, family and team throughout the Games
  • Supporting access to results information within venues
  • Assisting the worlds media in delivering on time and up to date content on Glasgow 2014
  • Supporting operational demands to various IT services across all venues

Part of the Games Family
In addition to the Glasgow 2014 organising committee, the planning, implementation and integration of the various cabling systems will be relied upon heavily by a wide range of key stakeholders, whom Boston Networks will work closely alongside, including:

  • Technology Systems Integrator
  • Official Timekeeper
  • Large Video Display Contractor
  • Host Broadcaster
  • Venue Overlay Contractors

Boston Networks dedicated 2014 Project Team will fully resource and manage the design and installation of the solution, locally, from its Head Office in Hillington, Glasgow and from the headquarters of the Glasgow 2014 organising committee based in Glasgow’s Merchant City.

Games Time Support
Boston Networks will deliver an unwavering level of Games time support from the Technology Operations Centre, with the establishment of a dedicated service desk to fully manage the operational integrity of the solution. The Games time support will guarantee the prompt resolution of any incidents and provide centralised monitoring, across all venues.

Key competition and non-competition venues, including the Commonwealth Games Athletes’ Village, will also require dedicated onsite support, during and leading up to the operational period of the venue. Boston Networks will manage fully qualified venue support teams and roaming support teams to ensure resilient support and maintenance services are omnipresent.

Lasting Legacy
In addition to showcasing Boston Networks in-house technical expertise, the Glasgow 2014 contract will enable Boston Networks to champion the local recruitment of modern apprentices and graduates, through the Commonwealth Games initiative targeting, specifically youth unemployment.
