Completing the internal wireless coverage surveys along with Cabling and Installation of internal wireless in 29 Primary Schools and 2 Academies
The recent, exponential adoption of mobile device technology has increased the demand for a more flexible mobile working environment within Aberdeen City Council. To facilitate this, the Council embarked on a project to extend its existing wireless infrastructure, across its entire education estate.
Boston Networks has detailed a robust upgrade path for the Council’s existing infrastructure, to deliver the best possible communication solution, yet taking in to consideration multiple health and safety policies.
The new WLAN is set to deliver seamless mobility and the performance required to support the transmission of wireless data, voice and video, across the council’s estate.
Furthermore, the flexibility of the solution allows the council to control the entire LAN from a central location and the upgrades to the existing infrastructure have added resiliency and facilitated the scalability of the council’s network.
The key aspects of the project were to bolster the existing network capacity, encompassing:
- Wireless Coverage Survey – to ensure coverage of network communications throughout key buildings.
- Additional surveys – to clarify power & data requirements to support the new wireless infrastructure.
- Design and deployment of Cat6 cabling infrastructure upgrades.
- Installation, configuration and testing of Juniper Wireless Access Points
