High definition IP CCTV solutions are critically important for retailers to drive down theft and improve safety.
The latest annual Centre for Retail Research (CRR) survey into the use of CCTV in retail– commissioned by Axis Communications, has revealed that over 80% of UK’s retailers agreed that CCTV has had a direct reduction on the level of internal and external losses they had incurred and that 60% of UK retailers are planning to adopt IP CCTV in the next 3 years.
From the 278 UK retailers that were surveyed, whom are collectively responsible for 20,350 stores, the response showed that 92.8% currently use CCTV with 32.1% of which already benefiting from IP technology.
The UK as a whole has embraced the benefits that CCTV can bring. 22% of UK Retailers surveyed stated that the main benefit of CCTV was
to reduce theft with an estimated average fall in loss of 15%. Couple this with the fact that 14% of respondents cite ‘quality of image’ as an important driver for the use of network video (a 40% increase on the previous year) and it’s clear to see that the high definition images that network video can offer, are critically important for retailers in driving down theft and improving safety.
Interestingly, over a quarter of all European respondents (27%) cited ‘integration with business intelligence applications’ as the main reason for adopting network IP – with the highest % being in the UK.
