Boston Networks has been awarded a prestigious contract to deliver an enhanced network infrastructure to advance digital learning at Fettes College.
Fettes College is one of the UK’s leading co-educational boarding schools and educates 750 children aged 7-18. Founded in 1870, Fettes College is the legacy of Sir William Fettes who, after the death of his son in 1815, devoted his wealth to building a school for children.
Located close to the historic and cultural centre of Edinburgh, Fettes College enjoys a proud reputation for academic and sporting excellence. Set in 100 acres of parkland, the school boasts a wide range of facilities including a Music School, Art School, and state of the art sporting facilities including extensive outdoor playing fields and pitches.
With digital technology now enhancing and supporting learning and teaching across an even wider variety of disciplines, Fettes College required support to meet the challenges of today such as secure network access and the management of fixed and wireless devices to facilitate BYOD. (Bring Your Own Device).
The project will see Boston Networks deliver a complete overhaul and expansion of the existing network infrastructure encompassing the delivery of a high performance 10G Fibre Network capable of supporting future expansion requirements, a complete LAN refresh with a high speed resilient core, and a scalable Wireless LAN to provide Fettes College with true mobility, seamless connectivity and unified network management.
