The Open is the oldest and most international major championship in professional golf. Held each year in the UK and administered by The R&A, it is the only major championship held outside of the United States.
Boston Networks has delivered a world class, high performance optical network infrastructure to support all event critical communications for the Championship at Troon.
Working in partnership with The R&A, Royal Troon and the host broadcaster, Boston Networks designed and installed a permanent underground optical cabling system utilising over 6 million metres of glass fibre to provide a highly scalable, fully resilient network to support a multitude of technologies, including all TV cameras, Radio, Telephony, Network, Public Wi-Fi, CCTV Security and Scoring
175,000 spectators will attend over the Championship week, with an anticipated television and online audience of millions expected to tune in, to follow the 156 players in action on course over the duration of the event.
