Supporting STEM Fortnight 2017

STEM Fortnight 2017As a member of Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce and a STEM ambassador, we were excited to again be invited to participate in STEM fortnight 2017.  STEM fortnight (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths), is an annual event which offers schools from across the region the opportunity to visit businesses with a specialism in a STEM area.

During the visits, students had the opportunity to understand and see the value the subjects brought to life in a working environment, with the objective of inspiring them to consider a career in a STEM related subject.

This year we hosted visits for two Renfrewshire Schools, St. Benedict’s in Linwood and Castlehead High School in Paisley. Students from the S4 and S6 ICT and Computer Science classes spent time with the Boston Networks teams to discover more about the technologies we deliver and the wide range of careers these encompass.

Sessions ranged from an ‘Introduction to Network Technology’ from our Senior Engineers, to ‘My STEM Journey’, where our Chief Technology Officer and Technical Consultants presented a fun overview of their journey from leaving education, to their current roles today.

Feedback from both schools was fantastic. We’re looking forward to STEM Fortnight 2018 already!
